Nicolas T. Stutes Killed in Motorcycle Crash with Truck in Covington

A tragic accident in the town of Covington has claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred on State Route 63 and involved a motorcycle and a truck.
The Wyoming County Deputy Sheriff responded to reports of a serious injury collision between a motorcycle and vehicle on State Route 63. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered the motorcyclist unresponsive on the road. Despite efforts from first responders and passing drivers to save his life, their attempts were unsuccessful.
Investigators have identified the deceased as Nicolas T. Stutes, who was riding his motorcycle northwest on State Route 63 when he suddenly veered into the opposite lane. It is believed that Stutes was attempting to overtake a long line of vehicles while traveling at high speed. Within this line of vehicles, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was making a left turn onto Court Road.
Tragically, Stutes collided with the rear left corner of the Equinox during its turn. As a result of impact, he fell off his motorcycle while simultaneously causing the Equinox to veer off-road and crash into a utility pole.
Regrettably, Stutes succumbed to his injuries at the scene as confirmed by authorities from Wyoming County Sheriff's Office. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those inside the Equinox at the time of impact.
The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing as law enforcement officials work diligently to determine all factors contributing to this tragedy.
