Richard S. Hines Injured in Plane Crash near Sandusky County Regional Airport

A 69-year-old man was seriously injured when his plane crashed into a field near the Sandusky County Regional Airport on Saturday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. when Richard S. Hines, a resident of Port Clinton, was attempting to return to the airport after his 1964 Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee experienced engine problems.
Troopers reported that Hines crashed in a field located about half a mile northeast of the airport. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and Hines was flown to a hospital for treatment. As of Saturday evening, he was listed in stable condition.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified of the incident, and the crash is currently under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. No further details have been released at this time.
