A two-car crash resulted in a fire that closed the intersection of West Bypass and Republic Road on Friday evening. The incident occurred at around 4:20 p.m., according to the Battlefield Fire Department.

The accident involved a car with a trailer that had stalled at the intersection, and a van that hit it from behind, causing both vehicles to travel about 25 feet further. Shortly after the collision, the van carrying fireworks caught fire.

The driver of the van was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Fire crews were forced to close down the busy intersection during rush hour traffic until they could control the flames. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported as a result of this accident.
