Two U.S. Army Soldiers Killed in Military Vehicle Accident in Salcha, Alaska

Officials have confirmed that two U.S. Army soldiers lost their lives on Monday when a military transport vehicle overturned on a dirt road leading to a training area in Alaska. The tragic incident also resulted in injuries to 12 other individuals.
The soldiers who died were identified as Spc. Brian Joshua Snowden, 22, and Spc. Jeremy Daniel Evans, 23. Of the two, Snowden hailed from Lonedell, Missouri and had joined the Army in July 2020 after completing his training at Fort Moore, Georgia. He arrived in Alaska just last month, in March 2021.
Evans was originally from Knoxville Tennessee and had enlisted with the Army around about same time as Snowden did last year before undergoing training at Fort Moore as well; he arrived in Alaska earlier this year during January.
Expressing his condolences for the loss of these brave servicemen, Maj. Gen. Brian Eifler, commanding general of the 11th Airborne Division said: "This is an incredible loss for all of us across the division... Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends, and fellow soldiers of Spc. Evans and Spc. Snowden."
The accident occurred while the soldiers were en route to the Yukon Training Area near Salcha - approximately 30 miles south of Fairbanks - where they were scheduled for training exercises.
According to an Army spokesperson, the driver lost control of the vehicle on a dirt road resulting in its overturning.
An investigation will be conducted by authorities to determine what caused this unfortunate accident which claimed two lives within their ranks.
