Woman in her 70's Killed by Falling Cement Bags from Overturned Truck on San Diego Freeway

A tragic incident occurred on Friday, May 26th when a woman in her 70s lost her life after bags of cement fell through the windshield of their car from an overturned truck above on a freeway ramp. The accident took place around 1 p.m. on the southbound side of I-805 near state Route 52.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a truck carrying bags of debris and concrete was traveling on I-805 south when the driver lost control, causing it to overturn and sending several bags of concrete through the windshield of a car that was heading eastbound SR-52. The impact directly hit the passenger who died at the scene.
The CHP confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not involved in this incident. However, due to this fatal wreck, all lanes were closed for some time as authorities worked towards clearing up debris from both sides.
Caltrans San Diego tweeted about this closure: "SB I-805 ramp to EB SR-52, all lanes closed due to traffic collision."
