According to reports, the identity of the individual who was killed in a late-morning crash in Vigo County on Sunday has been released. The driver was identified as 20-year-old Nicholas Casad from Terre Haute.

The incident occurred when deputies were called to a single-vehicle crash at State Road 159, just north of Harlan Drive around 11 a.m.

Casad had been headed northbound on 159, crossed into the southbound lane of traffic, slid in the grass and hit a tree. Unfortunately, Casad did not survive the accident.

Further details about what caused Casad to cross into the opposite lane are yet unknown.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact local law enforcement agencies immediately.
