A 30-year-old man from Amherst, Ohio has died following a car crash early Tuesday morning. Milan Hiteshbhai Patel was traveling north along state Route 61 just after 4:30 a.m. when his Toyota Camry went off the right side of the road and struck a ditch, traffic sign, and tree in Greenfield Township.

According to a news release from the Norwalk post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Patel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was trapped inside his vehicle. He had to be removed using mechanical devices before being transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by authorities. It remains unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved.
