Fatal crash in Columbia leaves Nicola D. Harrell and two children in critical condition

Two Children in Critical Condition After Three-Car Crash in Columbia
On Tuesday just after 5 p.m., a three-car crash occurred at the intersection of Trenholm Road and South Beltline Boulevard, leaving two children in critical condition. According to the Columbia Police Department (CPD), a vehicle carrying seven passengers attempted to make a left turn on Trenholm Road going west and did not yield, resulting in a collision with another car stopped at the intersection's red light. The car carrying seven passengers also hit another car heading south on Beltline Boulevard.
The victim who died at the scene was identified as Nicola D. Harrell, 31, of Columbia, SC. Two children between the ages of five and twelve years old were not restrained during the incident and are now in critical condition.
All other passengers involved in the accident were not seriously hurt according to police reports. Coroner Rutherford stated that they are working with CPD to fully investigate this accident.
Authorities have yet to confirm if there is any relation between Harrell and the two critically injured children.
