A fatal accident on I-71 in Middleburg Heights has left one person dead and another injured. 61-year-old Nabil Haikal was killed when he was struck by a 2020 Honda Civic while standing outside his car. The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A motorcycle and pickup truck collided in Springfield Township, injuring Brandon Slone and closing Home Road for three hours. Luke Spracklen was driving the truck and was not injured. The crash is under investigation.
Ryan Thomason, 40, died in a three-vehicle crash in Harpersfield Township. Thomason was driving a Ford F-150 pick-up truck when a white minivan made a left turn in front of him. The accident remains under investigation.
Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-car accident that killed 30-year-old Milan Patel in Huron County. Patel was driving a white Toyota Camry when he travelled off the right side of State Route 61 and struck a ditch, traffic sign and tree. He was not wearing a seat belt and was trapped in the vehicle. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
