A skateboarder was hit and killed in Asheville on Friday morning. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Benjamin Brown. Brown was skateboarding along Merrimon Avenue when he entered the intersection with Marcellus Street despite having a red light and was hit by an oncoming Republic solid waste collection truck. The victim then fell into the roadway where he was hit by another car.
James Gillispie, 76, died in a motorcycle crash in Miller County, Missouri. A woman was also injured in the crash. MSHP Troop F has investigated 20 deaths from crashes this year.
Dr. Harry Reeder, Senior Pastor at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, was killed in a car crash in Birmingham, Alabama. Reeder was 75 years old and is survived by his wife, three children, and several grandchildren.
Dylan A. McMahan, 21, was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Limestone County. He was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra when it left Brownsferry Road and overturned before hitting a tree around 12:45 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
A New York woman died after crashing into two utility poles in Newtown Thursday night. Jessica Bulfaro, 27, was driving eastbound on Berkshire Road when her car veered off the highway and struck two utility poles. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
