A pursuit suspect died Thursday afternoon after they drove off a cliff while evading law enforcement in Azusa. The crash happened in the Angeles Forest in the hills above Azusa near Morris Reservoir.
Wilcox County Sheriff Robert Rodgers died in a car accident while on duty in Georgia. The accident occurred on Ga. 233 and Rodgers lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a tree. He succumbed to his injuries. Condolences were shared by several Georgia law enforcement agencies.
Sergeant William Cherry of Macon County was killed in an early morning crash when a Tennessee man crossed the center line and struck him head-on. The incident occurred on Highway 10, north of Lafayette. The 55-year-old sergeant died as a result of the crash.
Deputy Chase Stinson of the Grady County Sheriff’s Office was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. The accident took place on Sunday night and has left the community devastated. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
Indiana State Trooper Aaron N. Smith was killed during a police pursuit of a stolen car in Indianapolis. Smith, who was trying to deescalate the pursuit, was struck by the car and later died from his injuries. The suspect driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A chase and crash at the intersection of Capital Boulevard has caused major delays. The driver was going more than 100 miles per hour on the roadway and the car was stolen from Johnston County. Six cars were involved in the crash.
