Conen Morgan, president of Longleaf Agency and a North Carolina State University graduate, died in a boating accident off the coast of Shackleford Banks. Morgan's clients included U.S. Reps. Alma Adams and Valerie Foushee and Durham Mayor Elaine O’Neal. The investigation is being handled by National Park Service rangers in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard and N.C. Wildlife.
One person and a dog were killed in a high-speed crash in Harnett County. The driver of a Honda was driving south on Hwy 87 at speeds estimated at 100 mph and swerving from lane to lane. The driver then lost control before crossing all of the lanes and hitting a pickup truck on the shoulder of the road.
Kristine Ann Sikorski was hit and killed by a car while walking in the eastbound lanes of East Independence Boulevard in Charlotte. The driver stayed at the scene and was found to not be impaired. The investigation is ongoing.
A crash in Fayetteville left three people dead and one in critical condition. The wreck involved a car and a pickup truck and has closed a section of Murchison Road.
A truck ran a red light at the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Beryl Road near the Waffle House around 10:30 a.m. The driver of an SUV crashed into the truck after it ran the red light, causing the truck to tip over. There were no injuries or fire, but the crash caused a hazard and traffic jam.
A truck hit the West Clemmonsville Road bridge causing both directions of traffic in the 3100 and 3200 blocks of Peters Creek Parkway to be rerouted.
A log truck driver was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near Satterwaite Road in Pitt County this morning. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and the truck overturned and collided with a ditch. The road was shut down as the Highway Patrol investigates and the logs are cleared from the highway.
A pickup truck rear-ended a school bus carrying 21 children in Lenoir County. Several children and the pickup driver were injured in the crash.
Misty Lovelace Palmer, 47, died in a car crash in Lincoln County, North Carolina after her car hit a tree. She was not wearing a seatbelt and excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
Crews from Bolivia responded to a two-car crash on Hwy 17 near Kentucky Avenue on Friday morning, May 26. According to the Bolivia Fire Department, nobody in either vehicle was trapped, and injured people were transported by EMS.
