A 21-year-old has been charged with driving while impaired after a multi-vehicle crash involving six cars during rush hour in Holly Springs. Jacob Gray Partin was driving a truck at a high rate of speed when he slammed into the first car and continued to hit several other cars. Partin was pulled out of the burning vehicle by an off-duty Cary firefighter who witnessed the wreck.

An overturned tractor-trailer has blocked all lanes on I-40 westbound Wednesday morning in Haywood County. The road is closed one mile prior to Exit 27. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Truck Crashes into Media Center at Burgaw Middle School
A truck crashed into the media center at Burgaw Middle School late Tuesday night, causing damage but no injuries. The driver, 41-year-old Johnathan Richard Franklin from Burgaw, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while subject to an impairing substance, failure to decrease speed as necessary to avoid a collision and failing to stop at a duly erected stop sign.
Woman and juvenile injured in serious Durham crash
A woman and a juvenile were seriously injured in a crash on Highway 70 in Durham. The woman driving the Chevrolet HHR crossed the median divider and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado heading westbound. The drivers of the Silverado and the Civic were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fatal Crash in North Charlotte Under Investigation
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a fatal crash in north Charlotte. Police said the crash occurred on the 3800 block of Sunset Road. As of 10 p.m., CMPD said Sunset Road was shut down in both directions.
Juvenile dies in collision with SUV in Apex
A juvenile riding a scooter died after a collision with an SUV in Apex, North Carolina. The child was taken to a Durham County medical facility but died from injuries sustained in the crash. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
One Confirmed Fatality in Olivia Crash
NC-87 northbound was closed in both directions near Olivia Road because of a crash. A trooper with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said there has been one confirmed fatality in the crash.
Fatal Car Crash in South Charlotte Leaves One Dead
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a fatal crash that happened early on Sunday morning in south Charlotte. Just after 2:40 a.m., officers were called to Carmel Road for a car crash. MEDIC was called and pronounced the driver dead on the scene.
